Beatrice's Story

Everyone agrees that Beatrice has a remarkable green thumb, and not just literally. Every summer her tomato vines become so heavy that the stakes can hardly keep up.

She never offers advice unless someone asks. She simply tends her garden quietly and, before long, baskets of perfectly ripe tomatoes begin mysteriously appearing on neighbors' porches.

Her husband Arthur thinks it's because she talks to the plants. Beatrice has never confirmed or denied it, but Arthur is pretty sure he's overheard her on more than one occasion quietly narrating fantastical fairy tales from between the rows of vegetables.
