Weekly Update May 18-22

This week I was so absorbed in painting that the week flew by and I was surprised yesterday to learn it was Friday. Don't you love that feeling when you're so "in the zone" that you lose track of time? I know I do.

My current painting is a small group of irises against a a background of dark foliage. I've worked through the flowers and am about to begin the background. After I'm finished with that, I'll undoubtedly have to come back to the flowers. Whenever I get one part of a painting done, I'll notice that some other area then needs to be adjusted. Maybe it now looks too pale or isn't quite the right color. Little tweaks here and there are always necessary to ensure the finished painting looks cohesive. It's a balancing act.

I'm starting to think about my next painting. I've been asked to paint English bluebells, snow drops, and sweet peas, but I haven't decided between them. Is there a specific flower you'd like to see me paint? If so, let me know.
